Van Gogh 20 blotches brush

With this Van Gogh 20 blotches brush,
you can generate something like below:
More details about how I generated this using the "Paint based on paths" Plug-in is described in the above "brush" link.

Kind'a off-topic, kind'a not

This one I talked about in "Anything goes" sub-forum.

It's kind'a off-topic because it isn't GL forum related.
However, it's still kind'a on topic because it's blog and art related.

It's about my cousin's blog.  Well I created the blog for her since she'd rather  spend her time doing art.  I do Christmas gift exchanges, but it just happens to be around Christmas so I consider it a Christmas present.

What I did was I consolidated all her artworks that she posted to Instagram, Facebook page and her personal Facebook's "artistic" album.  It's so all her art can reside in one spot.

On the blog, I made counters that are live from Instagram follows and Facebook page follows.  I am very happy with this feature. Also, another feature is the ability to rate each post (artwork) using a 5-star-rating system.  It's a way for those who'd like to stay anonymous to voice an opinion.

It took me about 2 days to complete as I had to do a lot of cutting and pasting.  There are 118 artworks right now.

So if you're up for it check out the blog, give some ratings/comments. The blog can be found here.  If you're interested in following to see her new artworks as she does them, give her a follow on Instagram or Facebook. Or better yet, follow the blog by email (located on the right sidebar of blog).  If you follow by email, you'll only receive an email for the day if there are new posts for that day so it's good in that you won't receive 10 emails if there are 10 posts.

Here's a sample of her art.  It's just a sample, but she does other paintings as well using watercolor or acrylic as well.

Paint based on Paths Plug-in Revisited

I worked on this plug-in before but it was only in GIMP 2.8.
Now that updated for GIMP 2.10.6 (Linux/Ubuntu), the script doesn't run like it should, so I edited a version for GIMP 2.10.6 which can be found here.

With this plug-in, I was able to create/generate something like below with the Van-gogh brush.

Layer-Effect Presets Collection

Nidhogg on gimpChat.com started sharing some nice looking layer-effects presets, so... I thought I would create a topic for these presets to reside.

You can find them here (on GL forum).

Here are some samples of what some presets can create:

Merry Christmas 2018

To help us make this Christmas 2018 more festive, GIMP Learn Forum Member have contributed to Christmas Art.

You can check them out at the "Christmas Art 2018" Showcase here.

Never ending Custom Fonts...

We have loads of custom fonts (like photo-fonts but in/for GIMP).

I created the custom font script long time ago but I can take credit anymore, as most of the work in creating these fonts have been contributed by members from GimpChat.com and GIMP Learn forum.

Check out showcase of these fonts here (remember there are multiple pages of them).

Alan is a long time running contributor combined with other members like skinnyhouse, Issabella, Pat625, Blighty, Tom, RJKD (and possibly other members that I might have missed) give us an ever expanding list of graphic fonts.

Try them out... They're beautiful.  I am sure at least a few with catch your eye.

Over 450 Custom Fonts (as of Dec 2018).

Here's a sample custom-font by skinnyhouse:

Designing a Capitalized Custom Font from Scratch in GIMP 2.10

Skinnyhouse has shared with us a tutorial that is 9 part long.

Very detailed instructions on how to create a Capitalized Custom Font in GIMP 2.10.

I created an index to these tutorials for easy navigation.

Index to these 9 tutorials can be found here.

Apply and Save Presets and Load Presets for Layer Effects in GIMP

Requested by Krikor last week for a way of using Presets for Layer-Effects so that you don't have to start over from scratch every time.

I didn't find a way to allow people to load a preset, change values then apply.

However, we came close by allow people to be able to change Layer Effects settings then Apply and Save those presets to be used again at later time by using Load Presets.

I am generally very happy with this plug-in and I think other members on GIMP Learn forum (who use layer-effects often) are very happy with it too. The plug-in can be found here.

If you use layer effects often, I highly recommend giving it a try.

I used to not use layer-effects often or don't know how but after this plug-in I was able to copy presets shared by other members and use it myself so that's another convenience too.
